About us

Our vision: That everyone has the opportunity to optimise their health and wellbeing.

The Institute of Healthcare Management is the leading independent membership organisation for health and social care managers, supporting personal development and driving change to improve health and wellbeing for all through quality management.

It is a challenging time to be a health and social care manager. More than ever, organisations involved in planning and delivering health and care need exceptional managers who use consistently good management practices to engage with staff and patients to drive the change agenda. IHM supports managers by helping them to meet these challenges and understand, develop, share and celebrate good practice.

How we work

  • Promote and support good practice in health and social care management recognising individuals who are committed to professional practice and personal development guided by a management code and standards.
  • Work across disciplines throughout the UK and beyond to create partnerships and networks of individuals and organisations wanting to develop their skills, share good practice and improve standards of care
  • Speak out on issues of concern to managers as the trusted, independent voice on the leadership and management of professional and compassionate health and social care
