The Executive Committee of the European Association of Hospital Managers (EAHM) met in Vilnius, Lithuania, on 3 June 2026, ahead of the opening of the 29th EAHM Congress.
The meeting provided an important opportunity for EAHM’s leadership to review ongoing priorities, prepare the next steps of the Association’s work and align key decisions before the Congress programme.

Among the main points discussed were the approval of previous minutes, the appointment process of the new Secretary General, financial governance, the calendar of activities for 2026 and the preparation of the Strategic Meeting to be held in Paris on 14 September 2026.
A central part of the discussion focused on the future direction of EAHM. The Paris Strategic Meeting was highlighted as a key moment to engage national associations, present strategic priorities and define a clear action plan for the coming mandate. The Executive Committee underlined the importance of accountability, transparency and active involvement of member associations in shaping the future work of EAHM.
Financial sustainability and governance were also addressed. The Executive Committee discussed the Association’s audit arrangements and the possibility of moving towards an internal audit model, in line with the applicable legal framework and with the aim of ensuring appropriate oversight while reducing unnecessary costs. This matter was subsequently submitted to the General Assembly for formal consideration.
The meeting also offered an opportunity to acknowledge the commitment and contribution of Marc Hastert, outgoing Secretary General of EAHM, whose work and long-standing dedication to the Association have played an important role in supporting European cooperation in hospital management.
The Executive Committee also expressed its appreciation to the Association of Hospital Managers Physicians of Lithuania and its President, Kęstutis Štaras, for hosting the 29th EAHM Congress in Vilnius and for the strong organisational work carried out in preparation for the event.
By bringing together EAHM’s leadership immediately before the Congress, the Executive Committee meeting reinforced the Association’s commitment to strong governance, member engagement and a renewed strategic role for hospital managers in Europe.
The meeting marked an important step in preparing EAHM’s next phase of work and in strengthening the Association’s role as a European platform for hospital managers, national associations and healthcare leadership.

Parmi les principaux points abordés figuraient l’approbation des procès-verbaux précédents, le processus de nomination du nouveau Secrétaire général, la gouvernance financière, le calendrier des activités pour 2026 et la préparation de la Réunion stratégique qui se tiendra à Paris le 14 septembre 2026.
Une partie centrale de la discussion a porté sur l’orientation future de l’EAHM. La Réunion stratégique de Paris a été soulignée comme un moment clé pour mobiliser les associations nationales, présenter les priorités stratégiques et définir un plan d’action clair pour le mandat à venir. Le Comité exécutif a souligné l’importance de la responsabilité, de la transparence et de l’implication active des associations membres dans la définition des futurs travaux de l’EAHM.
La soutenabilité financière et la gouvernance ont également été abordées. Le Comité exécutif a discuté des modalités d’audit de l’Association et de la possibilité d’évoluer vers un modèle d’audit interne, conformément au cadre juridique applicable et dans le but d’assurer une supervision appropriée tout en réduisant les coûts inutiles. Cette question a ensuite été soumise à l’Assemblée générale pour examen formel.
La réunion a également permis de saluer l’engagement et la contribution de Marc Hastert, Secrétaire général sortant de l’EAHM, dont le travail et le dévouement de longue date envers l’Association ont joué un rôle important dans le soutien à la coopération européenne en matière de gestion hospitalière.
Le Comité exécutif a également exprimé sa reconnaissance à l’Association des médecins gestionnaires hospitaliers de Lituanie et à son Président, Kęstutis Štaras, pour l’accueil du 29e Congrès de l’EAHM à Vilnius et pour l’important travail d’organisation mené en préparation de l’événement.
En réunissant la direction de l’EAHM immédiatement avant le Congrès, la réunion du Comité exécutif a renforcé l’engagement de l’Association en faveur d’une gouvernance solide, de l’implication des membres et d’un rôle stratégique renouvelé pour les directeurs et gestionnaires hospitaliers en Europe.

Das Exekutivkomitee der Europäischen Vereinigung der Krankenhausmanager (EAHM) trat am 3. Juni 2026 in Vilnius, Litauen, zusammen, im Vorfeld der Eröffnung des 29. EAHM-Kongresses.
Die Sitzung bot der EAHM-Führung eine wichtige Gelegenheit, laufende Prioritäten zu überprüfen, die nächsten Schritte der Arbeit des Verbandes vorzubereiten und zentrale Entscheidungen vor dem Kongressprogramm abzustimmen.

Zu den wichtigsten besprochenen Punkten gehörten die Genehmigung früherer Protokolle, das Ernennungsverfahren des neuen Generalsekretärs, die Finanzgovernance, der Aktivitätenkalender für 2026 sowie die Vorbereitung der Strategischen Sitzung, die am 14. September 2026 in Paris stattfinden wird.
Ein zentraler Teil der Diskussion befasste sich mit der künftigen Ausrichtung der EAHM. Die Strategische Sitzung in Paris wurde als Schlüsselmoment hervorgehoben, um die nationalen Verbände einzubinden, strategische Prioritäten vorzustellen und einen klaren Aktionsplan für das kommende Mandat zu definieren. Das Exekutivkomitee unterstrich die Bedeutung von Rechenschaftspflicht, Transparenz und aktiver Einbindung der Mitgliedsverbände bei der Gestaltung der künftigen Arbeit der EAHM.
Auch finanzielle Nachhaltigkeit und Governance wurden behandelt. Das Exekutivkomitee erörterte die Audit-Regelungen des Verbandes sowie die Möglichkeit, zu einem internen Audit-Modell überzugehen, im Einklang mit dem geltenden Rechtsrahmen und mit dem Ziel, eine angemessene Aufsicht sicherzustellen und gleichzeitig unnötige Kosten zu reduzieren. Diese Angelegenheit wurde anschließend der Generalversammlung zur formellen Prüfung vorgelegt.
Die Sitzung bot außerdem Gelegenheit, das Engagement und den Beitrag von Marc Hastert, dem scheidenden Generalsekretär der EAHM, zu würdigen. Seine Arbeit und sein langjähriger Einsatz für den Verband haben eine wichtige Rolle bei der Unterstützung der europäischen Zusammenarbeit im Krankenhausmanagement gespielt.
Das Exekutivkomitee sprach zudem der Vereinigung der ärztlichen Krankenhausmanager Litauens und ihrem Präsidenten, Kęstutis Štaras, seine Anerkennung aus — für die Ausrichtung des 29. EAHM-Kongresses in Vilnius und für die umfassende organisatorische Arbeit zur Vorbereitung der Veranstaltung.
Durch die Zusammenkunft der EAHM-Führung unmittelbar vor dem Kongress bekräftigte die Sitzung des Exekutivkomitees das Engagement des Verbandes für starke Governance, Mitgliederbeteiligung und eine erneuerte strategische Rolle der Krankenhausmanager in Europa.
Die Sitzung markierte einen wichtigen Schritt bei der Vorbereitung der nächsten Phase der EAHM-Arbeit und bei der Stärkung der Rolle des Verbandes als europäische Plattform für Krankenhausmanager, nationale Verbände und Führung im Gesundheitswesen.
